As so often with the plants and flowers I paint, spindle trees grow along many of my walking routes around my home. I've always enjoyed looking at them when their blossoms turned into bright pink seed vessels with orange seeds. They are just jolly, little treats of nature in an otherwise often rainy and dark season. And did you know that the spindle tree wood had been used to make organ-pipes or charcoal for painting?
